Discussion with Slovak author Jana Beňová, winner of the European Union Prize for Literature, in the New York Estonian House

On October 6 the European Union Delegation to UN, the Consulate General of Estonia and the Consulate General of Slovakia organized in New York Estonian House a discussion with Slovak author Jana Beňová, winner of the European Union Prize for Literature.

One of the most acclaimed Slovak authors, Jana Beňová, is a poet and novelist, author of several novels and collections of poems. In the New York Estonian House she introduced her first novel translated into English Seeing People Off.

The event was opened by the host Kairi Künka, Consul General of Estonia, João Vale de Almeida, Head of the EU Delegation to the UN, and Ladislava Begeç, Consul General of Slovakia. Christopher Harwood, Lecturer in Czech in the Slavic Department of Columbia University, introduced the author and leaded the book discussion. Slovak actress Katarina Vizina read the exerpts from the book.

Guests had a chance to talk to Jana Beňová and have their books signed by her.
