Estonian YouTube sensation GREIP North American concert tour!
23.02.2013 - 01.03.2013
This five member
vocal ensemble experienced their breakthrough in 2011 with over 100,000 views
in two days of their contemporary rendition of an Estonian folk song, “Vihma
Loits.” They continue to be an Estonian YouTube sensation with over 445,000
views currently. To put this in perspective, the entire country of
Estonia has only 1.3 million people meaning almost 1/3 of the population has
seen this video.
In addition to being
a top 10 finalist in a worldwide a capella competition in Leipzig, Germany,
Greip has won numerous vocal ensemble awards in Estonia, been nominated for the
Estonian Music Awards and performed throughout Germany, Finland, Latvia,
Lithuania and, of course, Estonia.
What makes them so
unique? Greip sings only a cappella music and their diverse repertory consists
of peaceful ballads, swinging rock, pop and folk music on top of their own
compositions. Their arrangements are original and carry the history of Estonian
folk music into the 21st century.
The ensemble consists
of:
Karin Leetsar –
soprano
Mari Holm – alto
Fred Rõigas – tenor
Rauno Muttik -
baritone, beatbox
Reimo Kiisk – bass
